Holiday in Sweden

Thought of writing a bit about our sun holidays, which are not offered as much sun as we wanted, but was relaxed and very much needed. It is something I discovered when I disconnect from everyday life, that I am more stressed out than I think.

Anyway, it was a very successful trip, we were on tour in the northern side of the island, had received a good tip from a colleague who had lived there for two years and is married to a "Canaria". The landscape is extremely varied and it was not over 13 degrees in high mountain areas. It was cool to see the big waves roll in on the north side, the coast road goes right on the waterfront. A funny episode, it was at the car rental. Our hotel, car rental and we had booked a car that turned out to be a totally different day of the excursion.


Anyway, Mike, friend of the regime, would inspect the car with the man from the hotel and the car proved to have crash / scratch damage. It waved him away with-all ok. The husband continued his round in the car and it turned out that it was untidy, again, all ok. He sits at the wheel and check out and when he asks - Do you know how to gear?. It was a bit of fun. How does he think we are driving in Sweden? It is not part of their training? We had fun at it anyway.

Now we have been home a few weeks and everything rolls on as usual. I had hatched some ideas on how to become less congested on the job, get a break of 30 minutes, but it proves more difficult than I thought. I like my job but it would be much needed såååå with a break sometimes. This week they were like a flock of wild monkeys were swept off the premises. Pust. Have started to look around for jobs, think it's the only way to get away from my present for it to be a balance between work and leisure. Have a good friend who constantly repeats what I'm going to take me for, and I shall probably take a vacation week to further develop the idea. Who knows what it looks like a few years ...

Ikanobanken drive rental cars being abandoned. The demand has been too small.

Sweden has Europe's most thirsty car

The newly registered cars in Sweden are efficient and emit less carbon dioxide than previously, it shows a recent survey. But compared with Europe, we are still bottom of the class.

Carbon dioxide emissions from new petrol and diesel cars in Sweden in 2008 fell by almost five percent and amounted to 173 grams per kilometer. This compares with the EU average of 158 grams (in 2007). It shows an index of new cars' carbon footprint, which today is presented by the Environmental Protection Agency, National Road Administration and the Consumer Agency.

- The high proportion of green cars help to reduce traffic impact on the climate, and gasoline and diesel cars are becoming more fuel efficient. We are still high compared to the rest of Europe, but it goes in the right direction, "says Carl Magnus Berglund, an analyst at the Consumer Agency.


Sweden has Europe's most fuel-guzzling car, and carbon dioxide emissions of new petrol and diesel cars are still among the highest. If the Swedish fleet in the long run would reduce emissions to an average of 120 grams per kilometer, which is the EU target, would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about five million tonnes, or almost eight per cent of Sweden's total greenhouse gas emissions.

Free rental cars from Hertz

Affilliate Program is a new online service for booking a free rental cars. The drive to reduce the cost to Hertz Car Rental adds to the movement of rental cars.

On June 1, Hertz Car Rental is launching a new service for booking a free rental cars - Affilliate. Car Hire can be booked on envägssträckor between different locations, mainly in Sweden but also to and from destinations abroad, including Germany, Denmark and Holland. The investment will mainly reduce the cost to the company each year, adding to the transport of their rental cars.

- We spend millions of dollars annually to transport rental cars from rental agencies. Through Affilliate we solve logistical problems, while we have the opportunity to reach new customer groups. As one of the primary target audiences for the Free Rider is young, so Hertz also lowers the age limit to 19 years. At the same time help the company in the rules regarding payment, for example by accepting debit cards in more conventional vehicle categories.
